Forklift Operator

Primary responsibilities are to operate a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack and count products. Load and unload materials and deliveries and move them into storage areas. Remove product from / deliver product to assembly lines, paint line and assembly area. Load trucks both in a loading dock and in an open space.

Key Skills and Competencies

Must possess general welding and mechanical skills.

  1. Must be able to operate a forklift.
  2. Must be able to operate a RF scanner gun.
  3. Forklift certification per OSHA standards.
  4. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
  5. Must be able to read a tape measure and use hand tools.
  6. Must be able to read parts manuals to identify required parts and to understand their relationship to adjoining parts.
  7. Must be able to communicate both written and oral as it relates to the job.
  8. Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
  9. Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, and division.
  10. Must be able to lift and handle components weighing up to 75 lbs.
  11. Must be able to work with others, as some tasks require two individuals.
  12. Must be able to work without constant supervision.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  1. Loading and unloading products from vehicles such as trucks, containers and flatbeds.
  2. Perform daily equipment checks of equipment.
  3. Assemble packaged equipment and / or components for shipment.
  4. Must be able to properly move products packed on pallets or in crates around the warehouse or shipping area.
  5. Stacking products in correct storage racks, following inventory control instructions.
  6. Checking loads are secure.
  7. Stacking empty pallets.
  8. Execute assignments in an accurate, timely and safe manner.
  9. Report any material discrepancies or material defects to area supervisor.
  10. Operates lifting devices for movement of products and other equipment as needed.
  11. Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly.
  12. Abide by company safety and personnel policies.
  13. Carry out any other responsibilities that supervisor may assign from time to time or as needed by the company.
  14. Ability to work overtime as needed.

Personal Protective Equipment Requirements:

  1. Safety Glasses while in factory.
  2. Steel Toe Footwear while in factory.
  3. Hearing protection as required per job.
